Nationwide Survey, part 3: 500 Democrat and 500 Independent Voters

Washington, DC – The Independent Center released the third installment in a four-part series of exclusive nationwide polling. In this survey, the Independent Center examined the sentiments of self-identified Democrats and independent voters as they enter the new year.

Key takeaways:

While 48% of self-identified Democrats want Trump and his policies to fail regardless of what that would mean for the country, 45% hope that he can find a way to work across the aisle and pass bipartisan legislation.

By a double-digit margin, self-identified Democrats would like to see Trump succeed at working across the aisle to enact bipartisan policies.

Democrats would like to see Republicans in Congress succeed at passing legislation - IF they were game to work across the aisle.

Within the margin of error, Democrats and independents agree on what success looks like for Trump and Republicans in Congress if they were to tackle the federal debt and deficit.
